Entrepreneurial Mind: Every Year, It's the Same Thing!
"Starting a blog in 2016? 2017? 2018!? Don't!" Every year, it's the same thing! I log in on social media, and BOOM! There is always some link being shared by some blogger telling you not to start a blog! And usually I get a laugh out of it because I read the post to see what ridiculous notions these bloggers will use to defend their case. But when you look at the hypocrisy of the whole post, it begins to make a lot more sense. Blogging has become an outlet for writers and business owners fairly early in the history of the internet. Social Media has added to the many tools that are being used today. And every tool has to be used properly. Now, starting a blog is not a, "get rich quick scheme." And if you're only in it for the money, then, taking the advice of these other bloggers might be a good idea. It requires having inspiration to write and if money is the only motive, you'll be discouraged that it took you years to make an income off it.
However, blogging is meant to help represent views and business ideas. It is meant to inspire readers and visitors. And yes, there is enough hate with it too. When you open yourself up to the internet, those trolls will try to get your attention... But often times, those haters end up being the best promoters... So, thank them and then walk away. As someone that has been writing for the last (almost) seven years, I never expected to start a blog. I've wrote articles that were published on Yahoo! They were paying me right off the bat for my articles. I started my business page on Facebook early, working hard to find an audience by networking on social media. Then when Yahoo! replaced the contributor network and had to select a few writers and kicked most of them out, I started my blog. I built my audience from the opportunity I was given. Starting a blog isn't a bad idea! However, you are entering into a lot of competition! That is why I brought a new content contributor, and am still looking to provide others with the opportunity. So it is no wonder why so many bloggers will try to discourage you from starting a blog. Especially those new in the field! If you're working hard at it and with a passion, it can and WILL work out for you. So, if you are thinking about starting a blog... GREAT! Just be sure that is what YOU want to do!
