What's Trending - The Sound of a T-Rex
When you think of a T-Rex and the sound it makes, you probably think of the roaring noise from "Jurassic Park." But movies tend to over glamourize some details in order to make sure to captivate audiences.
According to professors at the University of Texas, it is better to look at animals that would be more closely related to the dinosaur rather than looking to mammals for research. What they found is that the T-Rex might not have been very loud, but would have made more like a humming sound that is more common of that of a crocodile. And that while it would not have been high in volume, it would have been high in vibration, meaning you would feel it more than hear it.
The video is strictly based on theory and speculation, as there is no real way to determine hearing what a T-Rex would have sounded like, but it is still highly unlikely that these massive meat-shredders would have roared. But if it was close enough it would rattle your spine.
Also, the T-Rex would not have to open it's mouth very wide in order for this sound to travel. And according to the research, they apparently had extraordinary hearing.
