Entrepreneurial Mind: "Mind-Control Over Shoppers!"

Ever been to Walmart and Target? Have you ever noticed a slight difference in the way you feel when you get inside the interior of the store? Well, this post is going to explain why and how your mind is being used to influence your buying decisions. And how many businesses use these techniques to their advantage.

COLOR HAS THE POWER

Believe it or not, the interior of the store is not a mistake! The power of influence that color has is pretty amazing. In fact, these department stores use their choice of color to influence different behaviors in their customers. And I'm going to explain how this works by talking about Walmart and Target to give you an idea. If you've noticed that when you walk into Walmart feeling like you can browse around and walk into a Target, feeling a little rushed, you're going to learn why that is.

WALMART

Everyone that goes into a Walmart usually goes in for certain things, but it certainly takes them longer to get the stuff they intended to purchase. Why? It's because of the interior and the color. The BLUE signs give off a very calm, inviting feeling, which makes you want to look around. It actually keeps you in the store longer. Meaning that you're more likely to buy more than what you originally were going to purchase. Simply because you're comfortable and take your time to find something else that you find useful (and available to buy). Blue is often associated with stability and trust. And our minds naturally feel at ease with it. TARGET

Target has a different method for color, but is still very effective. You see, Target emphasizes it's clearnances and deals with the color, red. Red is something we naturally grow alertness with... It's used for stop signs and we often associate it with danger. However, it is also a very high-energy color. And again, puts our mind on alert. This causes us to more likely impulse buy than just stroll around. It's like they want you to get in, FILL your cart, and get out as soon as possible. WHERE DO YOU SHOP?

Regardless of where you shop, you're being passively influenced. And it's for the sake of big-business. Now, I'm not writing this post to condemn these shops. It's just smart! But, it is beneficial to take in a little bit of knowledge about this. I mean, if you're learning to run a business... You can learn from this! So, you can either feel duped... or you could use this trick to your advantage. Again, it's just smart!
